As an Event Director/Admin - How to Create an Event (League or Tournament)

This article walks through how to create the basics on the Event Set-Up page

Instructions

Step 1:

On your dashboard, select Scheduling > Events

From there, you will select "New Event" to start the setup of a new league/tournament

Step 2: 

Fill in the required fields:

Name, Competition (created in the first step of How to Build a League or Tournament), Dates, Insurance (Y/N), Affiliation and Location

Make sure to select the correct Competition. This connects the appropriate governing body rules associated with the event. 

Step 3: 

Verify the fields that were submitted. Most of these fields can be edited until there are registrations submitted for this event.  

If you are taking payments via GotSport, make sure to select your Merchant Profile so that you can create registration fees and take CC/Check-MO payments. 

Open Application Form: Allows teams to register to your event using the link that populates after saving (Global Registration URL)

  • Include and Require Team Roster Coach/Manager Step: Require the user to add a team official (coach/manager) before completing the registration
  • Include Team Roster Player StepAllows the user to add the team roster while completing the registration 
  • Require user to select club: When registering, the user will need to select the club that the team is connected to
  • Allow Manual Team Payment: 
  • Allow Registration without club role: With this selected, independent teams (not connected to a club/organization) can register
  • Require background check to register: Selecting this requires the coach/manager registering to have a background check completed with the affiliated governing body. 

Allow clubs to directly enroll teams: This will allow a club to enter teams into your league without completing an application form or entering an online payment.

Allow club registration form: 
Allow referee registration form: Generally only suggested if you are using GotSport to manage, schedule, and pay referees. 
 
Do not collect or store payment details until after team is invoiced: Teams will not have an initial payment when registering, instead the team is charged after they are accepted into the event. 
 
Require arrival/departure dates: Generally only suggested if you are using GotSport to manage Hotels/Travel reservations (Stay-to-Play events). 
 
Require state for teams registering: Require teams to select the state that they are traveling from
