# Create a League or Tournament (Competition)
## This article will show you how to create a Competition for a League or Tournament. In GotSport, a "Competition" is the Umbrella that all of your similar events will be placed under.
**Overview**
#### For Example, if you have an annual tournament called "Christmas Day Shootout" you will create the Competition as "Annual Christmas Shootout", and every year, the tournament will be placed inside of that Competition folder.
**Instructions**
**Step 1:**
- From your **Dashboard**, click **Scheduling** and then **Competitions**.
**Step 2:**
- Here you will select **New Competition.**

**Step 3:**
- In the pop-up window, you will **Name** the Competition, and select the **Type** (League, Tournament, Registration, etc.)
- Select the **Season**, select the **Grouping**, and **if needed**, mark off the Report the Team Registrations to your state association or governing body.
- Click **Save.**
IF this competition will be used for events that your club is hosting, outside of direct governing body affiliation (US Club, USYS, USSSA, etc.), using SELF as the governing organization is recommended.

- Once the Competition is saved, it will appear in your Competitions list
