As an Admin – How to Upload a Proof of Birth (PoB) for US Club Soccer Registration

This article will show you how and where to upload a proof of birth (PoB) to a user's profile in GotSport to meet US Club Soccer registration requirements.

Note: All Youth – Competitive players must have a proof of birth (or PoB) verified by US Club Soccer staff. If the player’s PoB was verified by another association, such as a state association, the Competitive-level player will still need to be verified by US Club Soccer as the verification does not carry over to other affiliations.

 

US Club Soccer checks the player’s full legal name, gender and date of birth, but the entire document must be uploaded to check authenticity. Altering the document in any way is not allowed. Altered PoBs will be tendered to US Club Soccer’s Safeguarding and Compliance team and will result in disciplinary action, including suspension, among other potential outcomes.

 

Acceptable PoB documents include: a government-issued birth certificate, passport, driver’s license, or other document issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security or U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services.

 

US Club Soccer does not accept hospital and medical center certificates, baptismal or other religious certificates and social security cards. Please do not upload those documents into GotSport.

Instructions:

Step 1:

  • Log in to your GotSport account. (How to Login)
  • From your club dashboard, click Club Management on the left-side menu.
  • Select Players from the Club Management tab.

Step 2:

  • On this page, you can use the filters at the top to narrow down your player list.
  • Once you have found the player you want to add a proof of birth (PoB) document for, click their name.

Step 3:

  • Once you have clicked on the player, click on Documents on the left side.

Step 4:

  • Click + New Document and add a proof of birth (PoB) document for this player.

Step 5:

  • Select US Club Soccer Proof of Birth for the Document Repository.
  • Click Go.
  • For the Document Label, select Proof of Birth. You can leave Start Date and End Date blank.
  • In the File upload, locate and choose the saved file.
  • Click Save.

NOTE - If you do NOT see US Club Soccer Proof of Birth as an option, it means your club/organization has not created a document repository for US Club Soccer proofs of birth. Please contact your club/organization for assistance.

Troubleshooting

  • Make sure the document is not too large. GotSport will only accept documents under 20 mb.
  • Make sure the document is either a PDF, JPG, JPEG or PNG file.
  • Photos taken on an iPhone with live photo mode (HEIC format) will not upload correctly.
  • Ensure the photo or document is clear (not blurry), shows the entire document and is not altered, redacted or edited in any way.
